Part of being human is needing help from others from time to time. Whether it is something as common as getting a flat tire on the side of a highway or something more dangerous and destructive like a house fire, there is someone trained to be able to provide you with assistance in your time of need.
Types Of Technical Rescue
Sometimes we may even find ourselves in very unique situations that almost took a large amount of creativity to get into in the first place. In these situations, there needs to be someone or a team of people who are trained to get you out of the situation without getting themselves in trouble as well. This is where technical rescue comes in. Specialized rescue squads go through unique training, such as rope rescue classes or water rescue classes, so they can know what to do to safely get people out of danger. Some common types of technical rescue are:
- Rope rescue
- Trench Rescue
- Water rescue
- Structural collapse rescue
- Vehicle extrication
- Wildnerness search and rescue
- Confined space rescue
These types of rescue go beyond the capabilities of traditional emergency fire and medical services and thus need people who have had technical training.
What To Do If You Are In Need Of Rescue
If you find yourself in an emergency situation where you need rescue, the first thing you should do is take a deep breath and try to remain calm. Next, call 911 and let them know there is an emergency situation. Give them your name, location, and details of what is going on. They will instruct you on what to do next and should be able to send the appropriate type of help you need. Stay on the phone with them until they say you can hang up. Always try to be prepared for an emergency in any situation. Keeping a phone with you at all times, staying in safe areas, and even learning first aid are all great ideas to stay safe.
